A little about Dublin
Right at the intersection of interstates 680 and 580, Dublin, California, is a suburban city of more than 46,000 residents located in Alameda County. The town's ideal location offers easy access into other parts of the Bay Area, and is just about 20 miles east of Oakland. The town is often referred to as crossroads of the Bay Area because of its central location. It is home to the headquarters of Sybase Inc. and Arlen Ness, and a number of large financial services have outlets here, such as Washington Mutual Bank and Franklin Resources. Six elementary, two middle schools and one high school make up the town's public school system, while Valley Christian Elementary, Junior and Senior Highs, with total enrollment of more than 1,000, and a few smaller private schools offer alternative options.
Education, health care and professional, scientific, and technical services are the largest industries in the area, with the nearest hospital about six miles away in Concord. Camp Parks, home of the Army’s 91st Division, is located nearby, and The Parks Reserve Forces Training Area is in Dublin. There are about a dozen parks here, with Dougherty Hills Park one of the largest. The town has a swim center, and Alameda County Library has a Dublin branch. It is home to Stoneridge Mall and San Ramon Royal Vista Country Club. To celebrate its Irish heritage, the town hosts an annual St. Patrick's Day parade. There are a number of other community and special events, particularly around the holidays.
