A little about Emeryville
Found right on the eastern side of the San Francisco Bay, directly across the water from San Francisco, Emeryville, California, is a small waterfront town, home to around 10,000 residents. The town is ideally situated between the cities of Berkeley and Oakland in Alameda County. The small population gives it the sense of community of a small town, yet its proximity to San Francisco gives it the feel of a larger city, with everything imaginable within reach. There is an Amtrak station located here. The town's most famous resident is the Pixar Animation Studios, known for producing such hit children's films as "Toy Story," "Finding Nemo," and "Wall-E." Other technology companies, such as LeapFrog, Sendmail, MobiTV, Novartis and Electronic Arts, are based in Emeryville as well. A single, K-6 elementary and a 7-12 secondary school make up the public school district. There is also a Montessori school for parents seeking other options.
Emeryville is home to several shopping centers, including the East BayBridge Shopping Center, an IKEA and the Bay Street area, which is home to a number of local shops and boutiques. The town is just two miles west of the MacArthur BART railway station in Oakland, and it lies at the foot of the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Bridge. Attractions in town include two movie theaters, the Oak Card Club, which houses 40 card tables, and the Allegro Ballroom. October marks the town’s annual celebration of the Emeryville Celebration of the Arts, and there are three art galleries operating in town. The town also celebrates its waterside location, with the Emeryville Marina and Emeryville Sportfishing, the largest sport-fishing fleet in Northern California.
