A little about Pleasanton

About 25 miles east of Oakland in Alameda County, Pleasanton, California, is home to a population of nearly 70,000 residents, near the intersection of 580 and 680 interstates. The city is home to the headquarters of Safeway Inc., and Oracle and Kaiser Permanente have offices in the Hacienda Business Park. Other companies with larges presences in town include Hitachi High Technologies America, Inc., Sage Software, CooperVision, Clorox, Fireside Bank, Roche, BMC Software, Applied Biosystems, EMC Corporation, Portrait Displays, Inc. and Symantec. AT&T has a large campus as well. Though Pleasanton is not the county’s seat, it is the site of the Alameda County Fair, as it is home to the fairgrounds.

Other notable locations include the Shadow Cliffs Regional Park, Fairways Golf Course, Callippe Golf Course, Castlewood Country Club Golf Course, Pleasanton Golf Center and the Museum on Main. June through September on Fridays concerts are held in the park. Stoneridge Shopping Center offer retail stores, and those looking for a taste of Northern California can visit the Mitchell Katz Winery. Nine elementary, three middle and two high schools make up the public school system here, and private options include Carden West School and Hacienda School.
