A little about Union City

About 20 miles south of Oakland in Alameda County, the town Union City, California, is located on the eastern side of San Francisco Bay and is home to a population of around 75,000. The city is in close proximity to Silicon Valley, and is home to its own high-tech industry. Computer and electronic products are the industry in which the most local residents are employed. Dry Creek Pioneer Regional Park and Garin Regional Park are popular escapes to visit and enjoy the beautiful California weather, and the Quarry Lakes offer options for fishing, swimming and other water activities. During colder or rainy weather, visit the Union Landing Retail and Entertainment Center, the Union City Sports Center or the Dan Oden Swim Center.

Golfers can enjoy themselves at the Mission Hills of Hayward Golf Course. The Union City BART station offers rail connections into nearby cities, while Union City Transit is a local bus system providing access throughout the city. The New Haven Unified School District operates the public school system in town, with seven elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools. Additionallly, three private schools: Our Lady of the Rosary School, Purple Lotus Buddhist School and Union City Christian Academy, offer alternative options. Cal State East Bay and Chabot College provide degree programs and classes.
