A littlke about Concord
A large suburb city with a total population of 121,780, Concord, California, is the largest city in Contra Costa County. It is located about 30 miles east of San Francisco, just south of the shores of Suisun Bay. It is home to a number of shopping areas -- Concord Park Shopping Center, Willows Shopping Center and Sun Valley Shopping Center. California State University, East Bay has a campus in Concord, and there are half a dozen or so municipal parks in operation. Six Flags Waterworld Concord offers a place to cool off and have fun during the summer. The city hosts the annual Concord Jazz Festival, begun because it was home to the Concord Records jazz record label until 1999. Soccer and golf tourneys and holiday festivities, from winter lighting ceremonies to July fireworks, are also celebrated throughout the year, as are the Contra Costa Greek Food Festival, the Bay Area KidFest and a Fall Fest.
Sleep Train Pavilion is a major venue for concerts and other shows. Two hospitals, Mt Diablo Hospital Medical Center and Mt Diablo Medical Pavilion, serve the region. Four high schools, four middle schools and six elementary schools make up the public school system in addition to the De La Salle High School, an all-boys private Catholic school with enrollment of around 1,000. A BART rail station provides railway connection to other cities in the area. Diablo Creek Golf Course and American Fine Art at Gallerie Konzeptwerk are popular attractions, and Willows Theatre Company is a theater group that holds performances throughout the year.
