A little about Crockett
A coastal town about 30 miles northeast of San Francisco, Crockett, California, is a small town in the Bay Area. The town has a rare feel to it; it is a true small community of just over 3,000 residents in this area where most cities are much larger. The town lies on the shores of the Carquinez Strait, where the strait meets San Pablo Bay. Crockett is best known as being the corporate headquarters of C&H Sugar. Two major parks, Carquinez Strait Regional Park and Carquinez Strait Trail Park, lie near the shores of the strait. Construction, education, health care and professional services are the largest industries residents here are employed in.
The nearest hospital is just four miles away, across the strait in Vallejo. One middle school, one high school and an elementary make up the public school system in the town. Crockett Branch Contra Costa County Library serves the town, and its history is preserved in the Crockett Historical Museum & Historical Society. The town is home to such events as the Crockett Art and Wine Festival, the Crockett Striped Bass Club Crab Feed, The Symphony Comes to Town, the Festival on the Strait and special Christmas, Halloween and Fourth of July events.
