A little about Discovery Bay

A small suburban town of about 16,500 in Contra Costa County, Discovery Bay, California, is a relatively new community that is surrounded on all sides by Willow Lake. It is located about 20 miles west of Stockton and about 60 miles east of San Francisco. The town is a waterfront community with more than 3,500 homes on the lakefront property, complete with private docks on the water. The town is home to the exquisite Discovery Bay Country Club for golfers to socialize and enjoy a few rounds of play. The Discovery Bay Yacht Harbor offers a launching point on the water. Construction, professional, scientific, and technical services, and health care are the industry in which residents here are most widely employed, with the nearest hospital 15 miles away in nearby Antioch.

Four schools -- an elementary, intermediate, middle and high school, make up the single public school district in Discovery Bay. The town hosts a number of annual community events throughout the seasons, such as Hot Summer, Cool Jazz in August, the State of the Town Banquet and the Hometown Halloween in October, and the Parade of Lights and a lighted boat parade in December. DB Plaza is the central point in town, a commercial hub with a bus terminal, a ferry pier and a variety of stores and shops, restaurants, medical clinics and a veterinary clinic.
