A little about El Cerrito

Located on the eastern side of San Francisco Bay, El Cerrito, California, is home to a little more than 23,000 residents in Contra Costa County. The town is just north of Berkeley and Oakland, and just across the bay, about 15 miles from San Francisco. The town was home to Creedence Clearwater Revival's John and Tom Fogerty, who both grew up in El Cerrito, and the band played its last concert here. El Cerrito Plaza is the largest shopping center in the city, and there are two BART railway stations that connect the town with other cities in the Bay Area. Hillside Nature Area, Wildcat Canyon Regional Park and Mira Vista Country Club and Golf Course are found within El Cerrito, and it has 45 total acres of parks.

Four elementary schools, one middle and one high school make up the public school system here, while a day school, Catholic, Christian and Montessori schools also complement them and offer parents other options for their children. Professional, scientific, and technical services, education and health care are the largest industries here, with the nearest hospital five miles away in San Pablo. There is a large military reservation nearby, and the town is just five miles from the famed city of Berkeley. Contra Costa Civic Theatre operates here, offering residents and visitors opportunities to see shows throughout the year.
