A little about Moraga

A small suburb in the Bay area, about 20 miles due east of Oakland, Moraga, California, is an inland city in Contra Costa County that is home to a population of more than 16,000 residents. The city is most popularly known for its college, Saint Mary's College of California, a Catholic university with about 4,000 students. Recreation areas in the city include Moraga Country Club and Moraga Commons Park and Hacienda De Las Flores Park. There are several large parks and lakes nearby as well, with Moraga just north of Redwood Regional Park, just south of Lafayette Reservoir Recreation Area and Lafayette Reservoir, and just north of the top reaches of the Upper San Leandro Reservoir.

Three elementary, one middle school and one high school make up the public school system here, and Orion Academy is a private secondary school for students with neurocognitive disabilities that operates in Moraga. Nearly a quarter of the population is employed in either professional, scientific, and technical services or education, and the nearest hospital is seven miles away on the outer edge of Oakland. The Moraga Branch of the Contra Costa County Library operates, and retail options can be found at the Moraga Shopping Center. The Hearst Art Gallery at St. Mary's offers a number of exhibits throughout the year, and the college also runs Gallery 160, which showcases St. Mary's students' artwork.
