A little about Pittsburg

Located right on Suisun Bay, and home to nearly 60,000 residents, Pittsburg, California, is a suburb town about 40 miles east of San Francisco in eastern Contra Costa County. The city is home to outdoor spots that residents can enjoy such as the Delta View Golf Course and Stoneman Park. Its ideal location next to the water makes it attractive to many, and thus it is home to such features as the Pittsburg Yacht Club and Pittsburg Marina. There are a number of retail shopping areas, like County East Mall, Delta Fair Shopping Center and Atlantic Plaza Shopping Center. Almost half of the population here is employed in either the sales and office and management sector or in professional and related services. Dow Chemical Company maintains some plants in Pittsburg.

The Pittsburg Unified School District control the public education system in town, operating 10 elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school. St Peter Martyr is also a large private school that offers an alternative. Los Medanos College, a community college, offers residents ways to easily further their education, and there are around 20 four-year colleges within 30 miles of the city. There is one BART station in town connecting Pittsburg residents with other Bay area cities. The nearest hospital is five miles away in Walnut Creek. The Pittsburg Community Theatre operates in the Creative Arts Building, and annually the town celebrates its Seafood Festival.
