Right off Interstate 680 and about 15 miles inland from San Francisco Bay, Walnut Creek, California, is home to a population of around 65,000. The town is in Contra Costa County and stretches across the San Ramon Valley and the Ygnacio Valley, below the western slopes of Mount Diablo. The Walnut Creek BART rail station offers residents an easy connection into the other cities in the Bay Area. A free shuttle runs between the central district of town and the BART station. Two museums, the Lindsay Wildlife Museum and the Shadelands Ranch Museum, provide historical data and information on the surrounding area.
