Right off Interstate 680 and about 15 miles inland from San Francisco Bay, Walnut Creek, California, is home to a population of around 65,000. The town is in Contra Costa County and stretches across the San Ramon Valley and the Ygnacio Valley, below the western slopes of Mount Diablo. The Walnut Creek BART rail station offers residents an easy connection into the other cities in the Bay Area. A free shuttle runs between the central district of town and the BART station. Two museums, the Lindsay Wildlife Museum and the Shadelands Ranch Museum, provide historical data and information on the surrounding area.

Two gardens, Ruth Bancroft Garden and the Gardens at Heather Farm, are popular desinations for tranquility, and make for a beautiful background. The Bedford Gallery offers local art, and golfers can check out the Boundary Oak Golf Course. Children and adults alike can enjoy the Walnut Creek Skate Park and Walnut Creek Equestrian Center.
