A little about American Canyon

Right in the heart of wine country, American Canyon, California, lies northwest of San Pablo Bay, north of Vallejo in southern Napa County. The town is just south of the Napa County Airport and about 40 miles northeast of San Francisco. The town is a rapidly expanding one. In 2000, the population was just under 10,000; it has grown already to more than 15,000 and is expected to continue to grow in the next several years. Therea are two elementary and two middle schools in American Canyon, and students attend high school in nearby Napa. However, due to the recent population gains, there are plans to construct a new high school in the town underway.

American Canyon Community Park and Chardonnay Golf Course can be enjoyed here as well as an aquatics center and skate park. There are a number of golf clubs within a few miles, and a Six Flags amusement park and the Mare Island Naval Shipyard are nearby. Construction, education and health care are the biggest industries here, with the nearest hospital just five miles away in Vallejo. Many travel through American Canyon on trips via Highway 29, known internationally as the Napa Valley Winery Trail.
