A little about Cupertino
A suburb in Santa Clara County in part of Silicon Valley, Cupertino, California, is a tech-heavy town with a population of just over 50,000. The town lies on the western edge of the Santa Clara Valley with parts extending into the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains. More than 60 high-tech companies have offices here, with companies like Trend Micro, Packeteer, Chordiant, Portal Software and Symantec having their headquarters here. The town is also most famously known as the home of Apple Computers. Hanson Permanente Cement is also a major employer that has existed in the town for many years. The school's two public school systems include the Cupertino Union School District and Fremont Union High School District, which consist of 17 elementary, five middle and five high schools.
De Anza College is a community college, which has the Flint Center on campus, used as a music hall by such outfits as the California Youth Symphony and the San Francisco Symphony. The University of California, Santa Cruz, and the University of San Francisco also operate satellite campuses in town. Cupertino is home to more than 150 acres of park space, including Blackberry Farm which has a nine-hole golf course. Several events are hosted throughout the year, such as the Lunar New Year Unity Parade, Cherry Blossom Festival, Moon Festival and a Tournament of Bands.
