A little about Palo Alto

Near the southwestern edge of San Francisco Bay, the city of Palo Alto, California, is home to a population of around 60,000. The city is most commonly noted as the home of Stanford University, the Ivy League school, and it benefits from the number of connections to the school in the city, like sporting events, concerts, the school's hospital and more. Palo Alto is located in northwest Santa Clara County and is home to the headquarters of several Silicon Valley high-tech companies, including Hewlett-Packard, Facebook, Schering-Plough Biopharma, Tibco Software, VMWare and more. Stanford Research Park on Page Mill Road is a popular home to technology companies and startups, and venture capitalists. Two high schools, three middle schools and 12 elementary schools make up the public school system, while about a dozen private schools operate here as well to provide alternative options.

Medical services can be provided at Stanford Hospital and Clinics, Lucille Packard Children's Hospital and Palo Alto Medical Clinic. Palo Alto Foothills Park, Palo Alto Hills Golf and Country Club, Stanford University Golf Course, Sharon Heights Golf Club and Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course provide outdoor recreation avenues. The city is home to Palo Alto Art Center, the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, the Cantor Arts Center, the Arastradero Preserve, the Arizona Cactus Garden and the West Bay Opera. For children, there is a a junior museum and zoo, a children’s theater and 53 tennis courts.
